Joe Craven suffered a TKO defeat to Josh Hill at Hitman Fight League 4 in Manchester on 28th September 2024, ending his reign as ISKA Muay Thai Middleweight World Champion.
It was a night Joe himself has been candid about. Going in off the back of strong preparation, he admits complacency crept in - and Hill made him pay for it at Bowlers Exhibition Centre.
The fight was stopped in round three after Joe broke his left knee, bringing a painful end to what had been a hard-fought contest.
It was a frustrating night for Joe, who later reflected that complacency had crept into his performance and that he paid the price for it.
"I did the work, but I went in thinking I had it covered,” he said. “That's on me. I was fighting stupid. Lesson learned - you can't afford to get complacent."
A broken knee is no small thing, but Joe's response to adversity has always defined him. He was back working with physios quickly, determined to recover well and get back in the gym.
The world title may have gone, but the fire hasn't. Joe Craven is already building towards getting it back and working his way back into the biggest fights again.
